Geometry Wars SHOULD Have Been Free

I’m sure by now everyone has downloaded Geometry Wars. It’s fun, addicting, and cheap. Anyone who has played Project Gotham Racing 2 knows just how fun the game can be — I, myself, played Geometry Wars more than I did the actual PGR2. It’s only natural that Geometry Wars would get it’s own game eventually, and with the introduction of Xbox Live’s Arcade, it had a platform for release. But, what if I told you that it was originally supposed to be free?
In a recent interview, Bizarre Creations’ Ben Ward said exactly that, going on to explain that Geometry Wars was supposed to be a gift to the Hardcore Gamer, and when they were informed that they could not simply give it away, they asked what the lowest price they could charge for it was. That is how Geometry Wars became only 400 points.
Maybe I’m just a little ignorant of how things work over Xbox Live (embarrassing revelation, considering I work… well, here) but I don’t see why Geometry Wars couldn’t have been free. There already IS a free game on Xbox Live, in Totemball. Of course, I was never a big fan of Totemball, but that’s neither here or there. The fact remains that there ARE free games on the XBLA already, so why not this one? I think it has to do with it’s already established popularity, and Microsoft wanting to cash in on that.
But that’s just the opinion of one part-time blogger.
Microsoft, Xbox 360, Xbox Live, Xbox Live Arcade, Geometry Wars, Bizarre Creations, Ben Ward, free games, Microsoft Points, Boom Boom Rocket, Totemball

I agree totally.. not only that but there should be free XNA games released by wanna be 360 game creators every week, and free internet TV threw the 360 as well. As well as an internet browser.
I would pay 800 credit for the internet browser anyday.
