Mass Effect Release Date…sort of.

In an interview with IGN during the GDC, Bioware’s Ray Muzyka sort of, kind of gave us a hint as to when Mass Effect will be released. When asked if Mass Effect will make an appearance at the upcoming E3 Summit, Muzyka had this to say:
“That event is in July, right? Well, Mass Effect won’t appear at this year’s E3.”
Now you can read this two ways: One, the way he answered the question, dropping the “That’s in July” set-up to point out that Mass Effect won’t be appearing. Two, it’s well known that Mass Effect is in it’s final stages, where now all Bioware is doing is polishing up a few smudges in the graphics and presentation.
In short: This game will be out by July.
It’s really the only way it can happen, when you think about it. This gives Microsoft a 1-2-3 punch that will surely send sales soaring: Mass Effect in the summer, Grand Theft Auto IV in the fall, and to cap Microsoft’s holiday line-up you have Halo 3 in November. Sure puts Sony’s Second Life-The Sims Online-You Tube-Online Dashboard “Home” thing in it’s place, doesn’t it?
