Mill o’ Rumour: Halo 3 in September?

by

(Hey, I finally got the damn banner made. Woot me!)
Mill o' Rumour

Ok, this is one of those rumors I’ve been trying to avoid talking about because, frankly, it’s Halo. I could say that there would be a Halo Dance Dance Revolution and the freaking Bungie zombies would think it true. But, after two somewhat-reliable but VERY popular publications got in on the rumor, I figured “Eh, why the hell not?”

IGN is reporting (Heh, that’s a phrase I’d never thought in a million years I’d hear myself saying), based off of reports from quote “a big-name publisher and well-established development house” that Bungie and Microsoft are slated to release Halo 3 in September, in order to beat the holiday rush. Said development house went on to say that Bungie and Microsoft are hoping to beat the holiday rush by releasing the game early, and getting a holiday season foothold.

This makes absolutely no bleeping sense whatsoever. “Beat the holiday rush?” That’s absurd — if you wanted to beat the holiday rush, you’d release the game in the first part of October, not September — that’s TOO soon. And why would you want a game like Halo 3 beating the rush? You’d want Halo 3 coming out at the height of the Holiday season in order to crush your opposition in the Holiday sales figures.

But again, this is IGN so I take it with a grain of salt. Given to me by a leprechaun on a silver platter.

I can already see this game being delayed 4 or 5 times like DOA4. Let them get a little bit of the kinks out first and then say when you are going to release it. Rusing s game will only end in disaster.
