Pirates of the Carribean: At World’s End gameplay video
It’s short, but sweet, no? I mean, look at Jack’s dreads, for Christ sake! They move like… well, like dreadlocks.
*sigh*
I’m sorry, people. I just can’t get excited over this game. I tried, and yes, it looks good… but… see, my mom has an obsession with Johnny Depp. Every chance she gets, she brings up some random fact about the Pirates movies that, honestly, I don’t care about. Or I already know. After all, I do work at The Disney Store. But I digress.
There are a few of these videos floating around, and after the break you can watch all of them. I’ll even give my views on what exactly is going on in them. But honestly… it’s a video game based on a movie that’s based on a theme park ride. Eventually, the chain must break. I have low expectations for this title.
Here we have what looks like Cry Baby and Legolas fighting pirates aboard the Black Pearl. Impressive considering the Pearl was eaten by the Kraken in the end of part 2. I’ll give credit, the graphics ARE gorgeous. And it looks like you may be able to switch between characters during combat, which I guess is a pretty nifty feature.
Here we have what looks like one of those timed-button press minigames. We have what looks like Domino in a hat tight roping across the ship, which I assume again is the Black Pearl. Really not too much there. We get flashes of the buttons we need to press to move forward, and really, that’s it.
Here’s another, better clip of the fighting inside the upcoming Edward-Scissorhands-On-A-Boat game. The animations overall look ok, minus the magical 180-degree turn he does in the midst of the fighting. I’m curious about the AI, though. Seeing the game in action, and seeing that it’s a “wait your turn to die” deal where you fight a group of guys one-at-a-time kind of dissuades me.
Of course, maybe I would have a few more things to say about these videos had they actually included AUDIO! But, there you go. Four new videos for the upcoming excuse for Disney to print yet more money.
