Six Reasons The Xbox 360 Is Not in Trouble

GamePro has a feature article up listing the “Six Reasons The Xbox 360 Is in Trouble” .. please indulge me as I show you point by point exactly why they were completely wrong.
1. GamePro claims the Xbox 360 is unreliable. I would agree with this in the past months, however, right now I do not, with the new heat sinks and new chips, that just about covers the unreliability issue to keep the system running fine, at no cost to us. This is one reason that the Xbox might have been in trouble, had Microsoft not fixed these issue (better late than never), and a 3 year warranty for those who aren’t buying it now (bonus!)
2. It only sells marginally better than Xbox? C’mon, that is pretty good for a system that sold with no huge big franchise game at launch (Perfect Dark? You all know that game sucked).. and the more obvious reason, the $100 difference in launch price, on top of the Xbox one’s price went down a hundred bucks in six months from launch.
3. A recent string of bad publicity is the next claim, I say to that, if you are negative, you will see the negative. I can turn a blind eye to all that with the Falcon console redesign coming soon and an E3 show that wasn’t that bad, nothing can stop them now! (Note: Oh man, I feel the fanboy beast within me has awoken with this last response, Ill admit that, for that I am sorry, lets move onto the next point).
4. It has limited appeal?!? What was GamePro thinking?! They have that nifty new big button controller for who knows how many thousands of games coming for it (Im joking). However, they do have the Viva Pinata: Party Animals game that is a complete rip off of a Mario Party game, down to the logo looking like something Nintendo would design, BUT, from the trailer, it still looks like a good game. Also you have Disney that signed on to offer their movies via the Xbox Live Marketplace.
5. GamePro claims that even Microsoft can go down with all their monetary losses. I do not believe they understand how much money Microsoft is worth. Boeing + McDonalds + Texaco + Time-Warner + Anheuser Busch = Same price as Microsoft’s worth, bam, next point.
6. It still doesn’t sell in Japan. I can’t argue with this statement, but I can argue the fact that it was made at all. Japan is not necessary to make or break a system, the games are, and whether or not all Japanese gamers enjoy the system, it seems the Japanese gaming companies aren’t slowing down because of them. Also to add to this, a nice quote from Kyle Orland (of GamesforLunch), “success in Japan does not necessarily lead to success in the rest of the world — see the tepid worldwide reaction to the hot-in-Japan Saturn and Dreamcast as evidence.”
So there you have it, when it comes down to it, most of the problems that GamePro claims would lead a person to believe the Xbox 360 is in trouble, are problems that either didn’t exist, or are already worked out (for the most part, it takes a lot to stop the bad publicity train, ask Sony)
