t3h w31rd: September 2nd, 2007

This week was kind of slow, so it’s a mixture of w31rdness and a quick list of my five personal favorite video game commercials to ever grace the television. This week features your favorite Marvel Superheroes as zombies, we find out that Dr. Gregory House is a gamer, we see the coolest car of all time PLUS, again, the top five video game commercials of all time… and four of them suck.
Oh, and Duke Nukem Forever news, too.
This is “t3h w31rd”.
Duke Nukem Forever on December 1st?!
You know, I was nine years old when Duke Nukem Forever was first announced. To give you perspective on just how long we’ve been waiting, I turn twenty on October 24th. Suffice to say, it’s been a while. However, I have it from a very reliable source that Duke Nukem Forever will be released on December 1st, 2007!
Who is my reliable source, you ask?! …Best Buy.

Yeah, I wasn’t being serious. But it seems that Best Buy has Duke Nukem Forever listed on their website, and that aforementioned listing has a “12/01/2007″ release date attached to it. This, of course, means that we can expect to see Duke Nukem Forever to be on display at E3.
In 2049, when E3 is being held annually on the Moon.
It goes without questions that zombies are awesome. Marvel superheroes? Also awesome. So, when the two get together, the sheer levels of awesome actually combine to form a vortex that rips a hole in space and time!
Toymania.com has a page showing off these custom figurines. For example, the Zombie Colossus was made from a WWE figurine, while zombie Quicksilver (why Quicksilver?) was created using an Angel (X-Men) action figure. Some of these creations are truly amazing pieces of artwork that, at the very least, should give Marvel some sort of an idea for a new line of collectibles.
Of course, if you’re curious as to where someone would get the inspiration for creating zombified versions of Marvel heroes, you would do yourself a favor to pick up a copy of the “Marvel Zombies” miniseries.
Or, if you’re someone who is well-versed with Marvel Zombies, maybe you outta pick up “Marvel Zombies vs. The Army of Darkness“.
EIGHTY-EIGHT MILES PER HOUR!!!!!!!!!!
Imagine that you’ve just gotten out of work. You’re tired, grumpy, and ready to just go home and call it a day. You get in your 1992 Toyota Hatchback, and pull onto the 405, and THIS passes you!

…naturally your first inclination would be to rub your eyes to make sure you’re not seeing things, before you finally realize that yes, the Back to the Future DeLorean just passed your slow ass!
Now, if you own that vehicle, and you are reading this… IM me. I would love to talk to you about how you came to be in posession of that vehicle… and whether or not you’d be willing to sell it. *wink, wink, nudge, nudge*
House, M.D. is l33t
Destructoid frequenter BFeld13, while watching one of the best shows on television (House, M.D.) discovered something rather peculiar — House is a gamer.
In season one, if you look for the signs you’ll see that House is quite smitten with Metroid. During points in season one, you could see House playing both Metroid: Zero Mission on hs GBA, and Metroid Prime: Hunters on his DS.

Now, by season two House had traded in his DS for a sleek, sexy PSP which he’s kept right on through season three.

What will we see in season four? Will the DS return? Will he keep his PSP? …N-Gage?
And finally…
Classic Gaming Commercials!
Ok, not too much happened this past week, so you know what? I’m just going to throw up a collection of five of my favorite video game commercials! These all have something to do with video games.
5.) William Shatner for Commodore Vic-20
4.) Super Mario Bros. 3
3.) First American NES Commercial
2.) Sega Saturn
1.) “Standoff”
Now, I know I’m going to get slack for having an Xbox 360 commercial at number one, but that’s not why it’s there. This is, in my eyes, the only GOOD video game commercial ever made, so naturally… it would get banned. Lovely.
See y’all next week.
Microsoft, Xbox 360, Standoff, Nintendo, NES, Sega, Sega Saturn, Super Mario Bros. 3, House, Hugh Laurie, Nintendo DS, PSP, DeLorean, Back to the Future, Destructoid, Marvel Comics, Zombies, Marvel Zombies, Ash Williams, Army of Darkness, Evil Dead, Commodore, William Shatner
