Xbox 360 Best Controller of All Time
C|NET sat down in their “Games & Gear” section to recently select the five best controllers of all time. In order they picked:
5-Atari 2600 - The first analog stick based controller mass produced on a system that needed nothing more than a d-pad.
4-Super Nintendo - Note that nearly every system after the SNES controller did in fact copy the four button layout and placement, as well as the shoulder buttons.
3-Nintendo 64 - Analog is back, first time rumble, also the trigger “z” button starts here.
2-PlayStation 2 - I can’t help but give credit where its due, Sony’ steals the best ideas and does a good job of combining them. We have duel-analog, rumble included within the controller, two shoulder buttons, and the classic SNES four button layout
1-Xbox 360 - It brings it all together, steals Sony’s stealing idea, and knocks it out the park by making the controller feel comfortable in your hands. Duel-analog, but without making my thumbs feel awkward. Smart basic design. Oh, and wireless, oh the wireless, so unnecessary, yet so nice.
