Yes, ladies and gents, Halo 3 now has an official release date — September 25th. From the Bungie website:

We said Fall 2007, but did you expect Halo 3’s release date to be just two days into the Fall? On September 25, 2007 (just two days after the Autumnal Equinox), players will be able to finish the fight they started in Halo: Combat Evolved and continued in Halo 2.

So, there you have it — September 25th. Some other significant events that happened on September 25th include…

In 1066, the Battle of Stamford Bridge marked the end of the Viking era.
In 1911, the ground was broken and construction began on a little baseball field known as Fenway Park.
In 1976, U2 forms. Millions rejoice, and millions more weep in agony and anguish.
In 2006, the Louisiana Superdome reopened in New Orleans, Louisiana.
