Haze scriptwriter bashes Halo

Free Radical, the development house behind the acclaimed Timesplitters franchise, has come out swinging against Bungie’s right to print money, Halo 3. Haze’s scriptwriter, Rob Yescombe, had the following to say about Halo 3 in a recent issue of Edge Magazine:
“while Halo is brilliant, you’re a teenager - the next-gen is about becoming more mature… in Haze you become an adult”
“It’s about what’s happening in the world today - it’s ludicrous, and how can you make something that doesn’t reflect that? Well, you could bury your head in the sand and make Halo 3, but the fact of the matter is there are more important things at stake.”
I have one simple question to ask: Who the hell is Rob Yescombe, and why is he preaching about maturity in games? …ok, I guess that counts as two questions, but still! I guess we should excuse the fact that Free Radical, the developers of Haze, are known for the over-the-top and campy Timesplitters games.
I can only imagine that this was some kind of shot at a bit of publicity for the game, and to that effect, I’m sure you’ll get noticed. Hell, you got a little bit of time here. But let’s remember one thing about your track record — the Timesplitters games were a goofy fun time. But you have yet to be worthy of licking Bungie’s boots.

Holy shit. This.. is big ass news for me. I am a TimeSplitters addict (well not anymore), but it is still one of my favorite series of all time. I swear to god if they added a god damn JUMP BUTTON, it would have killed Halo and all other FPS for its time. Im glad to hear anything from Free Radical, I was thinking about emailing them recently to see if I could get some news out of them. Great post JW.
