Elder Scrolls IV: GotY Edition Box Art

Sunday, August 5th, 2007

goty.jpg

German (Swedish? Hell, I don’t know — at least it ain’t Chinese) website PS3 Only has gotten their hands on the box art for the upcoming Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition. As you can see above.

If you haven’t heard, Bethesda announced back in July the GotY Edition of Oblivion for both the PS3 and Xbox 360. While a release date has yet to be announced, Oblivion GotY will feature the original game, as well as expansion packs “Knights of the Nine” and “The Shivering Isles”. If you have never played through Oblivion before, you don’t know what you’re missing out on. If you HAVE played through Oblivion before… well, you’re still playing, because there is simply too much stuff to do.

Official Retraction of SEGA TGS Rumor

Sunday, August 5th, 2007

banner-jwsnotes.jpg

There has been a lot of controversy regarding a recently posted rumor regarding SEGA’s possible Tokyo Game Show line-up. Now, I was originally very defensive of this piece because of who sent it in. He, a long-time go-to guy named Rob, has sent me exclusive tips for four years, and until this most recent one, they were ALL accurate.

Regardless, after the link had been posted by reader “Cedge”, I immediately contacted Rob via GoogleIM.

Grand Theft Auto IV - New Magazine Scans, New Info

Monday, July 23rd, 2007

German gaming site GTAengine was able to bring the lovely world of the internet scans from a magazine called Games Aktuell. In the scans was some pretty cool info as well as some characters you may not have known about previously. The scans seem to have been taken down, luckily a NeoGAF user was able to save them and repost them for me to save and share with you! Enjoy the 9 scans, then check below that for some new info about the game, which is definitely shaping up to be quite a grand scale outing of GTA for the next gen.

Silent Hill V Coming to 360 - Screenshots + Press Release

Thursday, July 12th, 2007

Pyramid Head Childrens BookI remember saying a couple months back that the game was not not confirmed! Now it has come to fruition. So despite the claims of 360 possibly having the ability to “exact limitations which could delay progress,” it looks as though that doesn’t stop a company from knowing if they want to make money back on their games, they have to make sure it is on a system that people actually own.

Enjoy the screenshots first, then the full press release following them. (Note: First two screens are pretty big sized, detailed, and ready to make into wallpapers)

Clive Barker’s Jericho - 6 New Screens

Sunday, July 1st, 2007

rawr

Codemasters is becoming quite one of my favorite developers. With Overlord doing quite well with those who game (link) as well as the very kick ass looking Rise of Argonauts (link), along comes another title, which I already knew about before, but really hadn’t taken a good glance at as of yet. The six new screens show how well the concept art is turning into in game screens (which I am still at disbelief at some of them being in game.. in fact, throwing this in the “Concept Art” section of the site as well just in case). Judge for yourself and enjoy looking at these amazingly creative characters in the first person shooter that might be killing the future of Condemned 2 and F.E.A.R. 2, with the aid of one bad ass horror man of both word and visuals, Clive Barker.

Want HDMI on your white 360?

xcm-white-360-hdmi-1080p-cable.jpg

Look at that cooky lookin’ contraption up there. Looks kind of… unusual, yes? Well, if XCM has it’s way, that will soon be in the home of every Xbox 360 owner who does NOT have an Elite. Why? Because that, my friends, is the concept design for the XCM White 360 HDMI 1080P cable, the first ever HDMI cable for your regular ol’ Xbox 360. How does it work? Hell if I know. But, should it ever see the light of day, you can imagine it selling like hotcakes.

Overlord by Codemasters - Lots of new screens/art

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

*snikt* WOLVERINE I cannot tell a lie. This game is one I look forward to more than Halo 3 (okay, maybe right under Halo 3). Seriously, go buy a Gamecube, rent Pikmin (probable total cost = $20 more or less), and see why I would get all excited over this game that no one seems to give us news about.

Well the nice folks at Xboxyde got screenshots and decided to share with the world. They were sent by Codemasters themselves over to them in the form of a press kit. I am sure mine is on the way Codemasters, probably just lost in the mail.. right guys… right. Well to see all the screens, take a gander over at Xboxyde.

It is today thing made with these first images of the prototype. They are thus not the final colors but just an outline.

WTF Did You Do to Crash Bandicoot?!

Sunday, May 20th, 2007

crashofthetitansjpeg.jpg

What in the hell is this?! Look, I was always a fan of the Crash Bandicoot games in the days of Naughty Dog. The first Crash Bandicoot was my first taste of 3D gaming, back on the original PS-X. But this… no. This reminds me of when the WB tried to shovel those “new” Looney Tunes on us last year. You know, the ones where they tried to make Bugs Bunny all radical and badass by calling him “Buzz”. There are just certain things you don’t toy with, and the look of a one-time mascot is one of them.

Look at Mario. That fat [censored] hasn’t changed his look in over twenty years! Red shirt, blue Osh Kosh and the moustache. Sonic the Hedgehog is the same way — he hasn’t changed his appearance drastically… ever. The most they did with him was make his spikes look more defined — kind of like what TOHO did with Godzilla.

The only major Video Game character that has had a complete appearance overhaul was Lara Croft — and that was almost necessary because she’s a human being.

Just remember that most who try to re imagine classic video game characters tend to fall flat on their faces. Sega tried to change Vectorman’s appearance when he almost came to the next gen.

Obviously, that didn’t fare well.

Team Fortress 2 releases new video “I am heavy weapons guy”

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007

While I seen this posted on gaming sites all over, the only place I found real info on what the video was trying to tell me, other than “damn, this is some pretty good cell shading where it looks almost pixar good”.. as well as Valve knows how to make really corny comedy, then I found some real information over at teamxbox posted:

“We are pleased to announce that the next generation of facial animation technology for Source will be released in Team Fortress 2. By leveraging the rapid pace of advancement in PC graphics, videogames can now match and actually surpass the facial animation used in feature film and broadcast television production. We’ve released a video of this real-time, in-game, in-engine facial animation in action in support of ATI’s launch of the Radeon HD 2000 series. By running entirely on the GPU of the videocard, the facial animation not only looks dramatically better, but frees up the CPU to perform other tasks like physics or AI. “

NEW Fallout 3 Concept Art!

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007

Fallout 3. I hear people are kinda excited for it. Well, I am now proud to show you all the new concept art for the upcoming Fallout 3. After looking at this art for a good ten minutes, my jaw slightly open as I drooled on myself, I can say this much — this is amongst the most beautiful (albeit morbidly) artwork I have ever seen for a game.

I swear, if we find out that Fallout 3 will play like Elder Scrolls IV, I would probably die. It would be that awesome.
