J.W.’s Notes: Jack Thompson has no soul

Today was one of the saddest and most tragic days in this nation’s history. A lone gunman, obviously crazed and mentally ill, took the lives of at least thirty-two students and injured fifteen others at Virginia Tech University before taking his own life. Without question or doubt our sympathies, thoughts and prayers go out to the families of those effected by this horrible tragedy. Fellow 451 family member Kezins was actually there, and has written a harrowing first-person account over at 1PStart.

There is no justification for this. There is nothing anyone can say that will make you go “Oh, ok.” The acts of this man will never be justifiable, and no amount of police explanation as to why he did what he did will take away the hurt. Now, more than ever, is a time to support those who survived, and grieve for those who were lost. There was a story that I read about Liviu Librescu, a professor who barricaded the door to the classroom as his students escaped. As they climbed out, the sounds of gunshots filled the classroom that they had just fled.

This teacher gave his life to protect his students from a raving mad man, but rather than focus on stories of harrowism like this, we are forced to hear the monotonous drivel of people who are so black, so heartless that they would use this for their own gains.

Enter Jack Thompson. The blood hadn’t even dried before Jack Thompson was out there, pointing his finger, using this tragedy to push his own anti-expressionist agenda.

You son of a bitch.

You speak of the “evil” of Rockstar Games, and how they exploit women and minorities — yet here you are, exploiting the mass slaughter of students, no more than twenty or twenty-one, to push your narrow-minded message.

The absolute dishonor you do to the memories of the 32 who were slaughtered is appauling. How would you feel, Mr. Thompson, if it was one of your sons who were killed on the Virginia Tech campus, and I used it to push my own message? If you were any kind of father, you would want to gut me like a fish, and rightfully so. For anyone to use this to push their own agenda is, without a doubt in my mind, one of the worst, most vile things you could possibly do.

I actually find myself lacking the words for how I feel. The sum of all the rage and hate I have ever felt has all been focused directly towards you, Mr. Thompson. For before, you were but an annoyance, much like a poodle. You were all bark, but no bite. But now you have crossed that line from horribly ignorant, into something darker. Something that I dare say borderlines on evil.

You sir, have left the human race, and when that day comes when you do, in fact, die… there will be a special place in hell for you.

As for you, the reader, I apologize if this seems a bit… choppy. Not fully fleshed out. I’m just… I don’t know how to be eloquent when it comes to this. I do not know.

  1. Kezins Says:

thanks for the article here. you definitely understand. this is no time to push agendas. Liviu Librescu was a true hero. I didn’t know him personally but know many who did. He was highly regarded in the community. What he did there was a selfless act that I can only hope I would have done had I been instructing the class. There is no official statement on his death, but at this point I think it’s probably unavoidable. It takes a lot of time to identify the bodies and as of late last night his wife was still unsure of his fate. I feel so sorry for her as well to be in the dark like this. Jack Thompson is a bastard for using this situation.

  2. this has Says:

nothing to do with xbox 360,
    GET OFF MY INTERNETS!

  3. BB Says:

@this has: Are you serious dude? This has to do with life as a whole right now. If the author wants to take a moment of your precious internets to discuss this horrible situation, then let him do what he wants. You are the one who is wrong here because this effects everyone and everything. If you don’t like it, then just move on and read the other articles JW has up.

    Done and done

  4. Topher Says:

@this has again: I am in full agreement with BB, it affects everyone and everything, which would of course include the video game industry, and thus the Xbox 360 and its fan base. I do however feel the need to make your ignorant ass aware of the obvious fact that Jack Thompson is notorious for picking on video games, those made by Rockstar in particular. Rockstar makes games that appear on the 360. It’s not exactly seven degrees of Kevin frekin Bacon. Shut your stupid mouth you unnecessary-pluralizing newb. On the off chance that you were being sarcastic, you will receive no apologies from me, as there was no redeeming value to your post either way. Add another “done” to BB’s sign-off, and just hope that some psycho doesn’t come shoot up your “internets!
