Red Rings of Death

by

pacos-notes.jpg

Its happened. I have had an Xbox 360 since launch, and on this day, it has given me the red rings of death.

Now I must stay up till whatever time Xbox 800 number offices are open to get a box to send it out in. This is not looking well since I feel this may make me miss playing the Halo 3 Beta.

Any suggestions? Im thinking of going to Costco and buying a 360, only to return it when I get mine back from Microsoft. A little unethical? How do people feel about the “towel trick”?

(Note: thanks Xbox.com forum people for such support, ethical or not ..heh)

I feel for you, because I’m in the same position. I’m not waiting for Microsoft to repair it, so I’m buying a new one just to have a working one until I get mine back, then I’m selling it.

I haven’t played a 360 in 3 weeks. It’s killing me. I can’t wait anymore, especially with the H3 Beta coming. Not to mention it’s made my writing feel extremely weird sense I don’t have a working machine to at the very least have a point of reference.

What the error code you receive?

You should go over to 360mods.net and ask in the forums. Those guys should be able to offer you some specific help.

[...] The Red Ring of Death…Cure Found! May 13th, 2007 by PacoDG So, in an earlier post I stated my Xbox 360 had a “Red Ring of Death.” As I posted and worried in many forums, Destructoid, hell, even the official Xbox forums. Choices were coming down to ending up selling it off used @ $150 and using the money to get a new Core system, then mention of the towel trick came up. I remember a while ago reading about someone thinking about using the Towel Trick, a great user on DToid named Grim. At this point, I was willing to try anything (it had only been a day without my 360, and already I was getting the shakes) [...]
